Part 3 of 4
...You can see why this careful evaluation and scrutiny has been hugely important in making sure we're going to be producing the best quality Stickybones possible. Even though Stickybones will ship after the original estimated date, it will undoubtedly result in a better Stickybones and that is great news!
Building a capable, experienced and talented team! Great team-building is time-consuming! We’ve worked hard to build a capable, experienced and talented team who are the very best in their given fields! We consider them mentors and they are simply an irreplaceable part of all the cool stuff we’re creating at Stickybones. Everyone on the Stickybones team is passionate and understands our collaborative pursuit to make Stickybones products the best they can possibly be—We are doing everything in our power to create a new standard of artistic tools, and we always keep pushing to do our very best to create a product that will help you to do your own very best work!
The original estimated timeline didn't include the Fly-Rig or Performance Stage, or the Versa-Toe free upgrade. In retrospect, while it would have been simpler for us to release Stickybones alone without accessories, we are happy that we decided to offer these since we had so many requests! These great requests inspired us to push the petal to the metal and offer these additions to be delivered with Stickybones for an even better experience. This decision has required a tremendous amount of additional work and resources, however these accessories are so much fun to play around with, we all think it’s more than worth it!
The bottom line: This extra time taken is driven by our obsession to create the best, most useful, long-lasting products that you'll love using in all sorts of ways for years to come! Maybe even ways you never expected!
We’d like to share with you our updated schedule. Below you'll see key dates that mark our progress to final delivery!

How is the time used?
Below outlines a few of our tasks that have required additional time.
A unique and precision product like Stickybones takes more time for everyone involved! Products requiring close tolerances and precision mechanical functionality cannot be created as fast as consumer products that don't require such high dimensional accuracy and precision. A manufacturer once told us that Stickybones requires the precision of a Rolex watch! Since Stickybones is unique in both design and functionality, there was not an established method for us to follow to manufacture something like Stickybones. Although there is an established method/road-map for manufacturing "action figures"—Stickybones functions nothing like a toy and is completely different in the design and engineering from the toes, up to the head! The entire Stickybones team is pushing beyond what's been done before, developing new processes and gaining valuable experience and knowledge we will put to great use again in our future products!
Additional testing. We took the time to better test and evaluate the vast array of choices of every aspect of the manufacturing process—Through this additional testing and further exploration, we’ve arrived at a number of "outside-of-the-box" solutions which have proven to provide greater functionality. We couldn’t be happier about this! We are so incredibly passionate about creating the best product possible and have been consistently going to great lengths to evaluate and scrutinize every aspect thus far. This includes every facet of launching a company and manufacturing a product, but this especially applies to our engineering, designs and materials choices! The materials testing has been an intensive, on-going process involving extensive amounts of research and testing within our workshop, and consulting our knowledgeable and trusted materials team, while simultaneously running everything by our manufacturer who is also exceptionally knowledgeable in this regard. We are all very happy to announce we have dialed in on the exact compounded polymer materials we’ll be using to create Stickybones! As a result of these combined efforts, Stickybones will exhibit exceptionally strong characteristics for unparalleled optimum Stickybones performance and functionality. Woot!....

Shipping Schedule Update:
This week we received a revised and updated schedule from our manufacturer. (It's a massive amount of work for our manufacturer to map out the final schedule due to so many moving parts, information to gather, people to coordinate with, planning out assembly labor time, etc!)
Having received this updated schedule for the final stretch of work to be done, it’s clear, an extra three months is needed to produce the final Stickybones, so that we don't sacrifice quality. Originally our estimate was to begin shipping Stickybones to our backers in late November/December. We wholeheartedly wanted to see Stickybones shipped out for the holiday season, however three extra months are required to ensure our highest standards are met. For backers who intend for their Stickybones to be given as holiday gifts, we'll create a holiday card you'll be able to print and give to your recipient to let them know a Stickybones figure is being created just for them!
We'd like to offer more insight as to why we need a bit more time to deliver the final Stickybones. Our original schedule and shipping estimate date was created by an initial manufacturing consultation (before launching our Indiegogo campaign.) We worked with that manufacturer to create an estimate of how long the production process would take. As we've moved through the stages of manufacturing, we now better understand the amount of extra care and time needed to ensure the highest quality possible in each and every single Stickybones to be shipped. We’re creating 7,500 units in our first run, and each Stickybones figure is comprised of 39 parts (This does not include items/components like the magnets, Fly-Rig and its parts, Performance Stage, or Pose Plates.) This equates to the creation and processing of 292,500 precision mechanical parts just for our Stickybones figures that must pass a high degree of scrutiny and final quality checks before being shipped to you. The amount of labor and resources associated with this amazing process is staggering.

Part 2 of 2
Packaging—Yesterday afternoon we had another in-person meeting with our packaging designer/manufacturer! He presented to us the first packaging prototype and a quote to make the quantity we need! The packaging prototype we reviewed yesterday got us incredibly excited! Even though the packaging we saw was like a "rough draft," we see where it's going and it's going to be cool! We went through a list of notes to be incorporated into our final packaging, and we'll be reviewing the packaging prototype iterations next week. It's so much fun to see the packaging coming together!! We had a helpful backer reach out to us to suggest no packaging at all, (think a bag full of the parts) as a great way to cut costs. It's a very good thought and idea, however, after some thinking it over, we concluded that we'd like to stick with our goal of "simply taking Stickybones out of the box and get right to posing!" Which to us, means Stickybones is shipped already popped together, ready to pose. Also, we plan to continue to sell Stickybones after fulfilling our IGG backers, and thus we will need a quality package providing function and safe travels during shipment.
Timeline—Though estimated project milestones during the course of production have moved around and shifted a bit, we're still gunning for our original shipping estimate. We'll be staying in close contact with the manufactures, and if that shipping estimate date changes or pushes out, we will let you know as soon as we do.
Also, when we get a little bit of time here, we'll try to post some personal behind the scenes photos from this journey! As always, thanks for being AWESOME and for your continued support, excitement, and encouragement of Stickybones!
Cheers!
Team Stickybones

Hello Stickybones Backers!
Here's a brief recap of some of the things we've been working on since our last update.
Materials—Continued and exciting progress is being made with our materials team we mentioned in the last update. These chemists and materials experts are working hard to arrive at the final compounds so we can conduct some final materials testing on our end. (Some of these compounds/materials are being custom made for Stickybones, so they're taking a little longer to ship out to us than "off-the-shelf" materials.) Final testing quantities should be shipped to us shortly! We are so excited to put these super-materials through our final series of testing!!
Manufacturing—Tomorrow we'll be physically touring the facility/space where the volume injection molding and assembly of Stickybones will happen. Although our final molds are not made yet, this will be where they live, once completed! Totaling in at 39 carefully calibrated parts we have A LOT of precision molds to be made-- this is a tremendous and inspiring process requiring much more collaborative effort than most other products on the market today. Each tool/mold will be about the size of a mini-fridge--or even larger, and made of high-grade steel! Our manufacturer continues to review all the engineering designs and they will soon be giving us final notes from their end. Once we address any notes they have, we'll resubmit the updated designs and hope for a "Final!" At which time the final steel-tools and mold making can begin.
